Managing your activated machines

The Activated machines list

In Settings â–¸ License you’ll find Activated machines — a list of every machine that’s currently using your license. Each entry shows the machine, with the one you’re on marked as This Mac, plus a Last seen time so you can tell which machines are still active.

This list is handy when you’ve installed Brolla on more than one computer and want to keep track of where your license is in use.

Freeing up a slot

Each license allows a set number of machines. When you no longer use Brolla on a particular Mac — say you’ve replaced it or sold it — you can free up its slot.

  • Deactivate this Mac removes the machine you’re currently on from the list, freeing a slot for another computer.
  • Use Refresh status afterwards to confirm the change has gone through with the license server.

The “all slots in use” message

If you try to activate on a new Mac and see All machine slots for this key are in use. Deactivate another machine first., it simply means every slot on your license is taken. Open Brolla on a machine you no longer need it on and choose Deactivate this Mac, then activate again on the new one.

Removing the license from a Mac

Remove from this Mac takes the license off your current machine and returns you to the free tier. Nothing is lost — your libraries and files stay put — and you can re-enter the key anytime to go back to Unlimited.
