How to keep Brolla updated
Check for updates
Open Settings and go to the Updates tab. There you’ll see App updates and a line telling you “You’re on version {version}.” Click Check for updates (or Check now) and Brolla will look for anything newer.
If nothing has changed, you’ll see “You’re up to date.” If there’s a newer release, you’ll see “A new version is available.” along with a button to get it.
Download vs Install
Depending on the update, Brolla offers one of two buttons:
- Download opens the new version’s download in your web browser. You then install it the same way you first installed Brolla — open the file and drag Brolla to Applications.
- Install updates Brolla for you. It closes and reopens Brolla as part of the process, so save anything you’re in the middle of first.
Back up your library first
Before an Install, Brolla asks you to confirm with a checkbox: “I’ve backed up my library (from the Library tab).” This is a gentle reminder, not busywork — your clips, tags and notes all live in your library folder, so a quick backup means you’re safe no matter what. You can make a backup at any time by copying your library folder; the Library tab helps you find it. Once you’ve ticked the box, go ahead and install.
